The statutory name. Article 47(6) of ZTuj-2, as replaced by article 29 of ZTuj-2I, uses these words for the permit; the Ministry's page is headed by the right rather than by the permit ('Združitev družine in pravica do celovitosti družine').
Official name (English)Temporary residence permit for family reunification as of 2026-08-25[5]

The fourth sentence of article 47(1) and the whole of article 47(6) were read in full in ZTuj-2I; the rest of article 47, including the definition of family members in paragraph 3 and the means mechanics, was read at one remove through the Ministry's page.

Not established. The Ministry's page states no minimum age for a spouse; the age limits it does state are ceilings on children's permits rather than floors on applicants.
Criminal-record conditionNot established from a qualifying source
Not established. The Ministry lists verified absence of security grounds among the conditions but does not list a criminal-record certificate among the documents for this permit.

Permit terms

Permit terms
Initial durationup to 2 years as of 2026-08-25[5][7]
Article 47(6) as replaced: issued with the validity of the sponsor's permit, or until it expires, but for not more than two years. Two special cases in the same paragraph: a family member of a foreigner holding a permanent residence permit gets two years, and a family member of a Blue Card holder gets the same period as the Blue Card.
How the initial term is setmatches the sponsor's permit
RenewableYes as of 2026-08-25[5][7]
Renewal durationup to 3 years as of 2026-08-25[5][7]
Article 47(6) as replaced: extended for the same period as the sponsor's permit, but for not more than three years. The same paragraph allows extension even where the sponsor's own permit is valid for less than a year, and caps a minor child's permit and a minor's parent's permit at the child's majority.
Work rightsauthorisation required as of 2026-08-25[1][2]
Not free access. The Employment Service states that holders of a residence permit for a family member must obtain an informativni list through an employer, after a labour-market test, before working; and its own enumeration of the categories with free access to the labour market lists family reunification with a SLOVENIAN citizen but not family reunification with a third-country permit holder. Read as a sourced absence off a closed list.

Permanent residence and citizenship

Permanent residence and citizenship
Counts toward permanent residenceNot established from a qualifying source
Not established; the Ministry's permanent-residence page names study permits as the half-weight basis and does not enumerate the rest.

Requirements

Requirements
Who can sponsorpermanent resident, temporary permit holder, specific permits as of 2026-08-25[5][7]
Article 47(1): the right belongs to a foreigner residing on a permanent residence permit and to a foreigner who has resided in Slovenia for the last year on a temporary residence permit issued with a validity of at least one year; the fourth sentence as replaced by ZTuj-2I article 29 adds the classes exempt from that wait. 'citizen' is deliberately not included: a family member of a Slovenian or EU citizen is reunited under article 128 on a different permit, which is recorded separately as si-druzinski-clan-slo-eu-drzavljana.
Eligible relationsspouse, registered partner, unmarried partner, minor child, adult dependent child, parent as of 2026-08-25[5]
Article 47(3) of ZTuj-2 defines family members as the spouse, the partner in a registered or civil partnership or a partner in a long-lasting life community; the foreigner's minor unmarried children; the minor unmarried children of that spouse or partner; the parents of a minor foreigner with whom the foreigner lived in a family community before coming to Slovenia; and adult unmarried children and parents of the foreigner or of the spouse or partner whom they are obliged to support under the law of their state of nationality. Article 47(4) allows the authority to treat a further person as a family member by exception.
Sponsor income requirement1 × basic amount of minimum income per month measured over 6 months as of 2026-08-25[5]
Sponsor accommodation requirementNo as of 2026-08-25[5]
No accommodation or housing condition appears anywhere in the Ministry's enumeration of the conditions or of the documents for this permit – which is notable, because the same portal does state an employer accommodation declaration as a condition on the posted-worker, intra-corporate-transfer and traineeship permits, so the absence here is against a background of the portal stating such conditions where they exist. Sourced absence.
Sponsor waiting periodat least 1 year as of 2026-08-25[5][7]
The sponsor must have resided in Slovenia for at least one year on a temporary residence permit and must at the same time hold one issued for at least one year. Time spent on an administrative unit's certificate of a filed application – for a first permit, a further permit or an extension – counts towards it. The waiting period does not apply at all to the classes named in the fourth sentence of article 47(1) as replaced: EU Blue Card holders, research and higher-education permit holders, holders under article 38.b, intra-corporate transferees under articles 45.b and 45.d, holders whose residence is in the interest of Slovenia, digital nomads, persons of Slovenian descent under article 48, and former beneficiaries of temporary protection, and – per the Ministry – both parents reuniting with a minor child.
Pre-entry language testNo as of 2026-08-25[5]
The Slovenian-language condition the Ministry publishes attaches to the EXTENSION of the family member's permit, not to its issue – it is recorded as a renewal requirement above. No language test is required before entry or at first issue.

This route is itself the family-reunification permit; the sponsor's own permit is what carries the reunification right, and that is recorded on each sponsoring route.
