Family inclusion

Family inclusion
Family members may be includedYes as of 2026-08-25[8][11]
Article 47(1) of ZTuj-2 recognises the right to family reunification for holders of a temporary residence permit; seasonal workers and daily cross-border migrants are excluded by the same paragraph.
Eligible relationsspouse, registered partner, unmarried partner, minor child, adult dependent child, parent as of 2026-08-25[8][10]
Article 47(3) of ZTuj-2 defines family members as the spouse, the partner in a registered or civil partnership or a partner with whom the foreigner lives in a long-lasting life community; the foreigner's minor unmarried children; the minor unmarried children of that spouse or partner; the parents of a minor foreigner with whom the foreigner lived in a family community before coming to Slovenia; and adult unmarried children and parents of the foreigner or of the spouse or partner whom the foreigner or the spouse or partner is obliged to support under the law of their state of nationality.
Family may apply at the same timeNo as of 2026-08-25[8][11]
Article 47(1) of ZTuj-2 conditions reunification on the sponsor having resided in Slovenia for the last year on a temporary residence permit issued with a validity of at least one year. The fourth sentence of article 47(1), as replaced by article 29 of ZTuj-2I, lists the holders who may reunite family members with no such limit: EU Blue Card holders, holders of a permit for work in research and higher education, holders under article 38.b, intra-corporate transferees under articles 45.b and 45.d, holders whose residence is in the interest of Slovenia, digital nomads, persons of Slovenian descent under article 48, and former beneficiaries of temporary protection. This route is not among them, so the one-year wait applies.
Family members' work rightsNot established from a qualifying source
Not free access. A holder of a family-member residence permit who wants to work needs an informativni list obtained through an employer, which the Employment Service issues after a labour-market test; the Employment Service's own free-access list does not include family members of an ordinary permit holder. Free access does exist for family members reuniting with a Slovenian citizen, which is a different route and is recorded separately.
