Identity

Identity
Official name (local)Dovoljenje za začasno prebivanje na podlagi mobilnosti študentov as of 2026-08-25[2]
The Ministry's published page heading. The card itself records the permit as a study residence permit with the type entered as 'študent – mobilnost'.
Official name (English)Temporary residence permit on the basis of student mobility as of 2026-08-25[2]
Translation; no official English name is published.
Legal basisZakon o tujcih (ZTuj-2), 44.a člen as of 2026-08-25[2]
The Ministry's own citation; article 44.a itself was not read, though ZTuj-2I article 23 amends its first paragraph to add that funds the educational organisation allocates to the student count as proof of the means condition.
Instrument typeresidence permit as of 2026-08-25[2]
A permit, notwithstanding that the trigger is a notification rather than an application form. The Ministry states that there is no prescribed form and that a written official notification is what is required, and then that where the administrative unit permits the residence it issues the student a temporary residence permit for study with the type entered as 'študent – mobilnost', collected in person as a card.

Permit terms

Permit terms
Initial durationup to 360 days as of 2026-08-25[2]
Issued for the duration of the mobility as set in the mobility programme or in the institution's certificate, but for not more than 360 days and not longer than the study residence permit issued in the other EU member state remains valid. The figure is 360 days rather than a year and is recorded as published.
How the initial term is setlength of the programme
RenewableNot established from a qualifying source
Not established. The Ministry states that the permit is not intended for long-term residence in Slovenia and that on expiry the student must leave or obtain another permit, but it does not say in terms that extension is impossible.
Work rightsNot established from a qualifying source
Not established. The Ministry's page says nothing about work either way, and the study permit's own answer cannot simply be carried across because this permit rests on another member state's permit rather than on Slovenian enrolment.
