Identity

Identity
Official name (local)Vízum k pobytu nad 90 dnů za účelem zácviku as of 2026-06-22[1]
The heading of the Information Portal's own Czech-language rendering of this page. The Aliens Act names no training visa; the instrument is granted under the general s. 30(1) power. MPO publishes the corresponding government project under the same word, 'Zácvik'.
Official name (English)Visa for a Stay Longer than 90 Days for the Purpose of Training as of 2026-06-22[1]
The Ministry of the Interior's own English page heading.
Legal basisAct No. 326/1999 Coll., s. 30(1) with s. 30(3) and s. 31 as of 2026-06-22[1][4]
The general long-term-visa power. The instrument works because the training is not employment. MPO states it of the corresponding government project, in its own English words: 'For the purposes of residence in the Czech Republic, training is not considered employment, and the foreigner does not need a work permit, employee card, or blue card.' That is what keeps the route outside the s. 30(1) bar on granting a long-term visa for the purpose of employment.
Instrument typenational visa as of 2026-06-12[4]
A visa for a stay longer than 90 days.

'A long-term visa including extensions can be valid in total for a maximum of 6 months.'
Work rightsnone as of 2026-06-22[1][2][4]
The trainee stays employed by, and paid by, the foreign employer: 'the holders of a long-term visa for the purpose of training stay employed with their (original) foreign employer for as long as the residence permit is valid, receiving their salary from the foreign employer. In practice, there is no work relation between the employee and the natural person or legal entity with a business address in the Czech Republic.' MPO adds that no work permit, employee card or blue card is needed because the training is not employment. There is therefore no Czech labour-market access at all – which is also why the route sits in the study family rather than the work family: what the holder does in Czechia is acquire skills, not supply labour. Family placement is deliberate.

Permanent residence and citizenship

Permanent residence and citizenship
Counts toward permanent residenceYes as of 2026-06-12[4]
s. 68(2)(a) counts time on a long-term visa; the training visa is not on the s. 68(3) exclusion list. The 6-month ceiling means the 5 years cannot be approached on this instrument.

Physical presence

Physical presence
none statedto keep the permit as of 2026-06-22[1][4]
Neither the governing provision nor the route page states a day count, a maximum absence or a reporting obligation for keeping this permit. What the Information Portal states instead is qualitative: 'You must fulfil the purpose of your stay for the whole duration of your residence permit.' s. 155b applies to long-term residence permits, not to visas.

Family inclusion

Family inclusion
Family members may be includedNo as of 2026-06-12[4]
s. 42a(7)(a) issues the family-reunification permit only where the sponsor holds a long-term or permanent residence permit. A long-term visa is neither, so the family cannot be brought on this instrument; the path runs through conversion to the corresponding long-term residence permit and then the s. 42a(7)(a) qualifying period.
