Identity

Identity
Official name (local)Povolení k dlouhodobému pobytu na území – další vzdělávací aktivity as of 2026-06-24[1]
The heading of the Information Portal's own Czech-language rendering of this page (the same page in the other language, not a second source). The Aliens Act names no such permit: it is a long-term residence permit under the general s. 42(1) power whose purpose of stay is recorded administratively as 'ostatní'. The Digital Nomad programme document defines that residual purpose from the other side: 'Ostatním účelem pobytu se rozumí vzdělávací aktivita, která má povahu soustavné přípravy na budoucí povolání, ale nesplňuje definici studia podle zákona č. 326/1999 Sb.' Published heading recorded.
Official name (English)Long-term Residence Permit – Other Educational Activities as of 2026-06-24[1]
The Ministry of the Interior's own English page heading.
Legal basisAct No. 326/1999 Coll., s. 42(1) with s. 44(4)(a) or (j); the route exists because the educational activity falls outside the definition of studies in s. 64 as of 2026-06-24[1][3]
The general long-term-residence ground. The route page states the boundary: 'If you intend to stay in the Czech Republic for more than 90 days for educational activities that do not fall under the long-term residence permit for the purpose of study, you can apply for a long-term residence permit for other educational activities.'
Instrument typeresidence permit as of 2026-06-24[1]
A long-term residence permit.

Who can apply

Who can apply
Nationals not served by this routeEU, EEA as of 2026-06-24[1][3]
Minimum ageNot established from a qualifying source
No minimum age is stated; the fee schedule contemplates applicants under 15, and secondary-school study outside an exchange programme is one of the qualifying activities.
Criminal-record conditionNot established from a qualifying source
The route page lists no documents and s. 46(1) applies only s. 31(1)(a) to (e) to a long-term residence permit. Recorded unknown rather than inferred from the study permit, which has its own document list in s. 42d(2).

Permit terms

Permit terms
Initial durationup to 1 year as of 2026-06-24[1]
'It is issued usually for up to 1 year.' The route page's hedge – 'usually' – is the Ministry's, and the Act's residual limbs s. 44(4)(a) and (j) between them cover both a sub-year and an up-to-2-year case, so the ceiling is recorded at the figure the Ministry publishes.
How the initial term is setmatches the course
RenewableYes as of 2026-06-24[1]
'You can extend a long-term residence permit repeatedly, usually for up to 1 year at a time', provided the purpose of stay is unchanged.
Renewal durationup to 1 year as of 2026-06-24[1]
Same ceiling on each extension.
Maximum total durationNot established from a qualifying source
No aggregate ceiling is stated.

Permanent residence and citizenship

Permanent residence and citizenship
Counts toward permanent residenceYes as of 2026-06-12[3]
s. 68(2)(a) counts time on a long-term residence permit; the 'ostatní' permit is not on the s. 68(3) exclusion list and, not being a permit 'za účelem studia', is not within the s. 68(2)(d)(1) half-counting either. Recorded on that reading; no source states it affirmatively.

Requirements

Requirements
Enrolment status requiredadmitted as of 2026-06-24[1]
The purpose of stay must be one of the educational activities the route page enumerates, which each presuppose acceptance by the institution or programme: secondary, conservatory or higher vocational study outside an exchange programme; a non-accredited university programme; a branch of a university accredited in another Member State but not in Czechia; post-secondary Czech language courses and specialised courses unavailable in the applicant's country of origin; and study visits and other courses unavailable there.
Means requirementNot established from a qualifying source
The route page states no means test and lists no documents. s. 46(1) applies s. 31(1)(a) to (e) to a long-term residence permit, which includes s. 31(1)(c), proof of funds under s. 13 – but s. 42d(2)(c) shows that the Act sets a bespoke means test where it wants one, and none was found for this route. Recorded unknown.
Work-hours capNot established from a qualifying source
Follows the unresolved work_rights: if there is free labour-market access there is no cap, and if there is not there is nothing to cap.
Post-study route existsNo as of 2026-06-12[3]
s. 42(3) opens the job-search permit only to a holder of a study permit under s. 64(a) – studies in an accredited university programme. This route exists precisely because the activity is outside s. 64, so it cannot lead to the job-search permit.
